Maeve and Faelen captured my heart and my imagination. I did many paintings of them with the permission of their human mom, Moira. I am very grateful that I have known both pure wolves and many wolf dogs in my life. What this has, and does, mean to me, is indelibly ingrained.
There is nothing else in the world to be with, that has the same spiritual energy as wolves. And other wild canids for that matter! How completely special and beautifully-made they are. Predatory species by very nature must be keen and intelligent. Faelen and Maeve are high content wolf dogs. I do not find any difference in how their minds work than that of pure wolves. In cross-bred dogs and wolves, it could go either way.
I have a low content wolf dog. Physically she is dog like but her mind is not. She is older now, but has never lost her difficulty fully adjusting to civilized life. I am glad that I was able to help her and look after her the way that I have.
During my years as a bored school student I covered the borders of my papers with little drawings of wolves, horses, and waterfowl. I grew up, but about this I did not change. I am still in love with horses and wolves and, you guessed it, ducks. Really with everything that walks, climbs, flies or swims!
