Thor's story is evolving! A young stallion on the crest of a Sand Wash Basin hill.... to me he represents good tidings for SWB on the horizon.
He is beginning to test the waters about gathering some special ladies of his own.
I daydreamed about several possible titles for this art. My mind is full of visions. I imagine Thor as a future king in Sand Wash Basin. A shining star to capture the hearts of wild horse people throughout the world, and in doing so, help protect their survival through public support.
The Sand Wash Basin wild mustang horse families have been through a lot. A stressful passage of time for them and for wild horse advocates very concerned for their happiness and safety. For now, things have settled down. Thor will contribute his beauty and genetics to the survival of the Sand Wash Basin wild horses in Colorado.
I am very grateful to Katy Simpson for telling me about the wonderful moment she captured with her camera, of Thor, looking this splendid, and offering it to me as an artwork reference. I hope that Thor has a bright and shiny life and that I can do lots more paintings of him as time goes by.
